Lacock, Wiltshire
On to a different area: we took a daytrip heading due south on the
motorway to Lacock and Bath. Lacock offers three distinct attractions,
all owned by the National Trust: the Fox Talbot Museum of Photography,
Lacock
Abbey, and the village of Lacock, parts of which date from the 13th
century. The village, which has been used for many films and television
programs, is well-preserved... perhaps a bit too much so for my taste.
As picturesque as it was, it didn't seem as real as many of the other places
we'd visited. But maybe the rain clouded my judgment...
Lacock: Well-preserved and picturesque,
but more a museum piece than a lively village.
