Christine
Stewart is an artist and art educator in Newmarket, Ontario. She
is also an aspiring children's author and illustrator. Her intent
is to create work with a fresh and inspired appeal that is infused
with colour.
In
addition to creating acrylic paintings, Christine is an aspiring
children's author and illustrator.
Christine
has 6 years of experience as an art educator and new media content
producer. She was the Project Manager of Content and Research for
the internationally award-winning Art2LIFE:
The Canadian Century . In 2003 Art2LIFE was chosen as one of
5 web sites in the world to be recognized for excellence in the
e-content category of e-Culture by the United Nations
World Summit
Award (WSA), a three-year, global project that celebrates best
practices in e-content and creativity. She has also written resources
for teachers to support the effective use of Art2LIFE.ca in the
classroom, and she has developed and delivered workshops for educators
about visual literacy and 'reading' art and other images. From 2003-2004
Christine was the Education Programmer for the York Region District
School Board
Heritage Schoolhouse. At this museum, archives and living history
site Christine developed and delivered curriculum-relevant education
programs for elementary students, including a "1900" Schoolhouse
Experience program. Christine was formerly a gallery educator at
the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
