Quarantine in SwitzerlandLT Mears is on the far right, four men up from the bottom. On the far left and two men up from the bottom is LT Bob Carroll, who later became a good friend of LT Mears and was eventually the best man at his wedding. LT Carroll was a pilot from the 448th bomb group who was shot down on his 10th mission. The men are standing in front of the The Grand Hotel at Chaumont where they spent their quarantine. This was three thousand feet above the city of Neuchatel, and the men were taken up the mountain by funicula, or cable car.
