Led the Tigers to Coach Don Faurot's first conference championship, and first bowl appearance in 1939. Set virtually all of Mizzou's passing records, most of which stood intact for nearly 40 years. Played in the NFL with the Chicago Cardinals and Green Bay Packers, and later became an accomplished network television commentator, teaming with Curt Gowdy on the early AFL telecasts. Was Missouri's first player chosen for induction to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. | ||

A 210-pound back who was the key member of Coach Don Faurot's Split-T offense that led the nation in rushing in 1941. Was the nation's number-three rusher in 1941, and number-two in 1942. His career total of 2,030 yards has been surpassed only by modern-day Tigers Joe Moore, James Wilder and Darrell Wallace. Still holds Missouri records for most points in a season, most career touchdowns, most Tds in a season, most career rushing touchdowns, most Tds rushing in a season, highest average per carry in a game and highest average per carry in a season. A member of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. Played professionally with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Dons and Buffalo Bills. | ||

Captain of the 1941 Tigers -- considered to be the best of Don Faurot's 19 Missouri teams. Set virtually all of Mizzou's passing records, most of which stood intact for nearly 40 years. Member of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. A World War II bomber pilot who was shot down on his 27th mission and spent 17 months in a German POW camp. | ||

Rushed for 830 yards as a sophomore in 1962, but spent most of the remainder of his career as a defensive back and short-yardage runner. One of only eight Tigers to earn all-conference honors three times. Was the NFL's Rookie of the Year in 1966, while playing for the St. Louis Cardinals. Is currently a assistant coach with the St. Louis Rams, but has also coached in the NFL with the Chicago Bears (where he coached NFL rushing king Walter Payton) and New York Jets. | ||

Led the nation in punt returns in 1968, and also set a school record with seven pass interceptions. All-Big Eight in 1967 and '68. Still holds 10 Missouri school records. Was a perennial all-pro performer while playing for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1969-82. | ||

Currently a radio commentator on Tiger Network broadcasts of Missouri football games. Was the Big Eight Male Athlete of the Year in 1979. Inducted this summer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Redefined the tight end position during a nine-year career (1979-88) with the NFL's San Diego Chargers, combining size with a deep passing threat. | ||

Three-sport athlete at Missouri, 1922-24. Had a record of 101-79-10 during 19 seasons as the Tigers' head coach. Won three conference championships and took four teams to bowl games. Left his legacy on college football as the "father of option football" when he invented the Split-T formation in 1941. The Tigers led the nation in rushing that year. A member of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. The playing surface at Memorial Stadium was named in his honor in 1972. | ||

Missouri's winningest football coach, with a record of 93-37-7 (.704) .. His Tigers were the only team in the nation, during the decade of the 1960s, that never lost more than three games .. Took Missouri to a record of 4-2 in six bowl appearances .. Won two conference championships, and led the 1960 Tigers to the only number-one ranking in school history .. A member of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame .. Also head coach at Arizona State, with the Green Bay Packers, and at Notre Dame, and won a national championship at Notre Dame in 1977. |
