A year after the events of AC 195, the Earth and its space colonies are at peace again under a new government, the Earth Sphere Unified Nations. With this government, Earth and the colony clusters are now seen as one single nation and the idea of total pacifism is launched. The Gundam pilots, except for one, are convinced to forget war and as a result, four of the five Gundams are sent on a one-way trip towards the sun to meet their destruction. Coincidentally, just as the Gundams are sent in the direction of the sun, a new foundation arises. The mysterious Barton Foundation, alike the Romefeller Foundation, uses their newly designed mobile suits in an attempt to claim the world as its inheritance under the name of a young girl. In the meantime, the brainwashed seven-year-old girl who is the granddaughter of the patriarch of the Barton Foundation, kidnaps the founder of the Earth Sphere Unified Nations during a diplomatic visit to the colony cluster of L3. The child is discovered to be the daughter of late World Nation (the combined nations of the Earth, not including the space colonies) leader (deceased), who once happened to be the director of the Romefeller Foundation. She is the successor to the Barton Foundation's business empire and unknowingly, she is used as a puppet for her grandfather's own greedy ambitions. The founder of the Earth Sphere Unified Nations is held hostage in hopes that this former queen and now deputy foreign minister will serve as a figurehead for the Mariemaia Army, which is named in honour of this young child.

        With the Gundams slowly traveling towards their end, the four Gundam pilots must race against time in order to bring back their Gundams and defend the world from the Mariemaia Army's invasion. To make matters worse, the one Gundam not sent to the sun is now a member of the Mariemaia Army, but thankfully, the ace pilot formerly operating with the Romefeller Foundation has a different agenda. The true extent of Operation Meteor, a failed mission through the Gundams, is about to commence…
