Hans returned to France and told Oscar that he came to France to find a girl that he could marry. Oscar was shocked but she still calmly asked him to meet Antoinette. In order to keep Carinal Rohan's emotions down, she found a blind girl looking exactly like Antoinette and told Cardinal Rohan to meet her at the garden of Venus. Meanwhile with Antoinette, she knew nothing of this and started to waste losts of money on gifts given to Mme. Polignac. When she was shown a beautiful necklace ordered by King Louis XV before and was asked to buy it, she refused due to the high price. The jeweller got frustrated and thought that Jeanne was close to the queen so he went to see her and asked for help. Jeanne forged the signature of Queen Marie and signed the contract for the necklace. After she's got the jewel in her hand, she sold it out in small quatities. And with Antoinette, she's received a bill and thought that the jeweller was mistaken and did not keep the bill. Because of this, she was caught in this net of necklace scandal which darkened the image of the Royal Family ever more. People's dissatisfaction grew even stronger.
