Mediation - Arbitration Practice
Mediation is a process in which parties engage in a joint effort to resolve their differences. This process may occur before a lawsuit has been filed or at some point after the parties have been engaged in the litigation process. It is often very successful and results in a win/win resolution of the dispute. Mediation and arbitration are processes which courts are beginning to implement more often to improve efficiency and to encourage litigants to resolve their differences without court involvement.
Mediation is a non-binding form of conflict resolution which allows the parties to arrive at a mutually agreeable resolution. The court often times will order the parties to mediation, but may not order the parties to agree. Arbitration, on the other hand, is a binding form of alternative dispute resolution with the arbitrator deciding the outcome after receiving evidence from all parties.
Mr. Alexander is a trained, registered certified mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. He is active in the alternative dispute resolution practice of law and serves on the court approved list in Gwinnett County Georgia. Mr. Alexander frequently serves as a mediator for Gwinnett County Magistrate's Court during warrant application hearings and civil matters.
Mr. Alexander has been involved in mediations in cases involving as many as 45 plaintiffs in employment cases and many other cases involving injuries and/or death. He has extensive practical experience in law enforcement practices and/or procedures along with police investigations.
Mr. Alexander is available for mediation and arbitration proceedings throughout the State of Georgia in all areas listed in his practice area. In addition, Mr. Alexander is available for travel outside the State of Georgia upon reasonable notice and arrangements. Fees are set based on the number of parties and the type of case.
Cases and Settlements
Mr. Alexander has handled various injury cases which include crime victim's litigation, car crashes, truck crashes, boating accidents, fire deaths, medical malpractice,legal malpractice, employment claims with 6 figure recoveries in over 12 cases. In the employment law arena, Mr. Alexander has successfull handled several cases which proceeded as class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act with as many as 45 plaintiffs.
