L. Spooky Park Dark? (Rowntree Park). Halloween Saturday the 27th that is, sees me turning up at Rowntree Park again to chill the silly-Billies. Well I will be a bit scary. Tales in the dark. In the trees. In the park. I believe there is a fancy dress and lots of activities before I start telling my tales. But do check with Stephen. Last years event was chocker block. It will be from about 4 with darkness sending us into the woods with mummies (of both varieties perhaps) and dragons and ghouls and fairies and thingies about 5. Well is that OK do you think? Check with the Young Friends of Rowntree Park or with Stephen Whittaker, Community Leisure Officer, Parks & Open Spaces, City of York Council 0777 194 11 55 or 01904 553423 Parks.

B2. Jerry Scott Show Thursday 11pm - Once a month Jerry gets me in and records them tales n sounds.

Good old Jerry Scott, warra great guy and not only him but you get me too. Spooky or what this Thursday at 11pm on Radio York. You can listen on the net as well as read here about how good we are together. There is something spooky and very atmospheric about this show and hearing me on there only deepens the experience. Listen late, listen. Every month Jerry gets me in and records them tales n sounds. So you are sure to hear me once a month and maybe more often as he plays recordings. We are also keeping our collection and there will be a 'best of' album in a few months. Perhaps when I have done a years worth of shows in a few months will be the time for this. You will hear me on there filling you in on all these events you are reading about here but in full technisound. Maybe you can make us some suggestions. The guest spot came about, well cos me n Jerry is pals OK, but also when callers pointed out that late at night was when things were OK to air. What should I cover? Do you know of spooky events you would like me to look up and tell? Can you request from my repertoire? Should I do some of my well loved and controversial or discussion-able poems? Are there topics you would like to challenge me with? Perhaps I should tell stories in a way that set off those late night discussions you get on er late night discussion radio? Perhaps....

Anyway tune in - Radio York - BBC

D2. International Peace Day; Millers Yard
Is it right to be excited about one minute of world peace, for I feel that way? Perhaps this is because I had never heard of this phenomenon before and have only now because I have been asked to take part in an event to celebrate this 40 year tradition. At Millers Yard no less. This is a York phenomenon all of our own. Friday September 21st 2007, noon till evening see us entertaining and mixing as part of this world event. The event starts at midday and Dylan of the Yard tells says, 'Hello hello hello.' No sorry that is ridiculous, Dylan of the yard tells us there will be exciting events and workshops all day: Music, exhibitions, workshops and a lady. A lady, whose name I didn't catch, who dances for world peace. Ooops sorry 'Universal peace'; I get it, for everyone in an unconditional kind of way, beautiful. The local phenomenon is that Dylan and his partner have made this place work. They have dragged itself up from a forgotten bakery into the arts and health venue it is today. People of York have been wittering on for years about how we should have an arts centre ('ooo yar yar yar') and all along voting for people who probably said they agreed with them. Dylan and co have made it happen. They have thrown their lives and their everything into it, er universally. Come to think of it, all the elected bodies are doing is waging wars (and spending less on all our lives as a result). We on the other hand are saying, 'lay down those arms'. Since the seventies the whole world has agreed that at midday on this day of day of days all arms will be laid down. All war will cease. There will be peace. For one great minute there will be peace. Perhaps we can do this and more world, perhaps we can strive for real peace. For all days. Any way by evening we will be moving it further peaceful entertainments with Soundsphere, Gosh they are good and so full of life. Come be part. And after that there is world music dance and a set from me. I am currently striving for a peaceful set from musician friends joining in in harmony, but whether or no, I will be there and busy being peaceful. This will be a really good day. Any day you go to Miller's Yard will be a really good day. Even if you just pop in the cafe for a cuppa. Do this and you will be helping the arts in York; More than that helping our souls (or wherever you personally keep your bits). There are lots of wonderful events and courses and things there to fill your days and whirl your heart whilst lifting you up to greater purposes. 'They are up there. look!'

E2. Theatre Royal

Yes this is it the 50+ Festival and I am very thrilled to be part of the festival show on Monday 1st of October at 2 pm we will be kicking the whole thing off. I am especially thrilled to be back at the Theatre Royal as part of this vibrant celebration of the impossibility of stopping us more mature types. Stand back we are up and at you. You get a cream tea too. I was on the big stage a few years ago at this lovely theatre of ours as part of the appeal for the Stage Coach Theatre. As I recall I did a piece that was a broad Yorkshire pastiche of Under Milk Wood and the people I was listening to passing the window were the characters in the cast. I won?t be doing that here in the fantastic Studio. It is fantastic and you get what you wish for they say. I was here recently and fell for the place and declared that I would be happy if I got to perform in this very spot. I will have to be happy then, whatever might go wrong in life, because Sue and Ann have made my wish come true. .

Be there with us it is £7 a ticket and is full of facets of the festival. Plus a tour. And you get to chat over cream tea too. Wow. (Then of course you go off with a program and plan yourself a very busy time.) You also book a supper and story evening with me at Williams Bar, don't forget that is the only reason they have put on this event to promote my being there so you will have to get straight on the phone. Well it would be nice if you did, once you have recovered from the wonders of the afternoon. It will be good. I was warned when I entered that.....more

J2. At Adrinskalds Table
Nice to be back on board as part of the Viking festivals. We always have a busy night at Williams Bar when we do a Nordic Special. The boats return, the halls are filled, fires burn and hearts are chilled! Adrinskald presents an evening of scary tales! To be totally truthful I haven't made my mind up what to tell yet, but there will be elements of spookiness yes. And it will be all action with strange voices and stranger faces. Not that I make it all up! The world of myth is deep within me and I bring my unique approach as a writer and performer to bring something new every time (or is that making it up?!). I did 30 hours of storytelling over the week when I last worked for the Jorvik in Coppergate Square and I didn't repeat myself once. I won't be doing 30 hours at Wills though.
Vetrnaetr is the returning and the gathering. This is when we celebrate the rich return and the safe return. Come on into the halls and huddle close. You will not believe the things we have seen on our adventures. We went Viking with nothing, nothing but our hope of dying a great death, and some of us returned. Those of who did not return will be flying off to one of about four different heavens and hells as a result of their valour or lack of it. Those that did make it back here to the smoky old home, have great treasures, rich pickings and much booty. We also met some very strange things. Very strange. ('They are still out there')

At the last Adrinskald's Table event I was being filmed and if any of you who were there would like to order a copy please do get in touch. Contact

K2. The Halloween Ghost Inn Tour of York with Gothic Molly and Adrian Spendlow.

Where? Meeting point outside the Golden Fleece, Pavement, York (opposite Shambles) at 8pm Friday 27th Oct, Sat. 28th Oct and Tuesday 31st Oct. How much? £5. Drinks not included.

This is what Helen has asked me to prepare myself for and I am ready. I have even gone as far as to remove facial hair to look more vampirific. We do indeed now offer vigils with ghost walks, psychic readings, mediums, whatever package is right for a group with a suitable hotel or bar. Large groups to a minimum of four people.
There is a stop news plan that each pub will have a medium ready for us. This is in the planning stages as an added bonus to the Halloween experience. We will be taking you round haunted establishments and once we have spooked you and you are ready for a drink, (Oh yes you will be ready), there in the [pub will be a message lady. Offering to feel your thing you hold most dear and bring you a message of mediumship from the gone beyond.
As if our scintillating scripts and scary ways were not enough.
I am thrilled to join Helen er I mean Gothic Molly in this her fourth year of doing ghost crawls around the spooked pubs of Ye Olde. I don?t expect that the vitriolic competitiveness will hurt our hearts too much as we champion the cause of thrilling and scaring. I will simply be far better than her! The Ghost Wars of old have nothing on us we... more

M2. Williams Bar Story Nights

Will screeched to a halt in the middle of Stamford Bridge the other day because he didn't think I was going to be able to make my regular evening of storytelling at Williams Bar. It was OK and I did make it for my 8 o clock start in the lovely upstairs bar. Every week I am there till about half nine. You can come along as early as you like and stay as late as you like drinkies-wise, but those are the times to be enthralled. At only three pound a head it is popular with regulars, tourists, York people, groups and enthusiasts. Spookie stories muddle in with stand-up style funny stuff and ye olde york bits mix with reminiscence about my farming, fishing and steaming family history. You choose the way it goes. The story menu lists all the tales in tall topics and you shape the evening by picking as we go. Some people take a copy away with them and keep a ticked list so as not to repeat next time, a kind of gotta catch em all type philosophy. You don?t have to do that. You do have to be ether. It is very popular. Hence Will stopping dead in the road. Well I had fallen off a cliff hadn't I. And was hobbling back from holiday when Mum and Dad said lets stop at this chippy it is a really really good one. (It wasn't bad) Regardless of the place he was hurrying to or the cars behind or the fact that the bend on the road was on a hill or anything really, the lovely feller he is Will, leaped out to see what on earth was the matter with me. Relieved that I would still be at this dynamic night of mine in his bar despite having fallen off Flamborough Head he was able to go on his way. Be careful, if you do come along you may well get addicted. Get your pen ready to start ticking off.
