SAMURAI DIVERS MEETING - MINUTES 13 February 2000
Members present: Darlene Fong, Michael
Noah, Roger Rindeau, Mike Relyea and Juan d’Argent. Also
present was Mike who is becoming a new member.
The meeting started with a motion
proposed by Darlene Fong – Proposed that the club reimbursed the round trip fare for the upcoming Dive Expo being held
at the Tokyo Big Site from the 18 to 20 February. (More detail will be made available to the member through e-mail.) Roger Rindeau seconded the motion. Motion passed
unanimously by the membership present.
On the next item of business, Roger
Rindeau passed out information on the upcoming Bazaar in March. The club will co-work with the 78th Signal on
this Bazaar. Members will volunteer in this first fund raising activity of this year. An estimated 15 volunteers from
the club is expected to participate in this event. The date of the Bazaar is March 4, 2000, the first Saturday of March.
Darlene informed the Club that the
required Bond for the year was paid.
Michael Noah informed the gathering that
he is planning a Nitrox Class in April in Thailand. He has recently been certified as an instructor in this rapidly
growing new method of breathing for recreation diving. Interested members should contact him for more information.
The club received the latest update on
the rules and guideline governing Private Organizations on base from Mrs. Tibbs office. Roger Rindeau will review and
finalize this matter. The suspense on this is February 18, 2000.
Discussions were held regarding future
dives. The meeting was adjourned at 6.45 P.M.
SAMURAI DIVERS MEETING - MINUTES 11 March 2000
Members present: Darlene Fong, Roger
Rindeau, Mike Relyea and Juan d’Argent. Ray
Cunningham was at work.
The meeting was an Executive Council
meeting with an open invitation to all SDA members. The purpose of the meeting was to determine a strategy for the
Cherry Blossom Festival, which will be scheduled on 8 April 2000. We assumed that the hours will roughly be 1200-1800.
The SDA had to cancel assisting the 78th
SIG BN with the March 4 Monthly Bazaar. The 78th SIG BN did not mind and, as it turned out, vendors reported
that the attendance and sales at the Bazaar were minimal.
The following goals, strategies, and
objectives were discussed by the Executive Council:
Goal: A menu with hot food which
would draw Japanese customers and give us a better booth location. Ultimately, we hope to draw customers so
we can also sell our chese and cracker inventory.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 A.M.
Note: The week of 20 March things fell through so we will not be doing a booth for the festival. Look out the 4th of July Open Post Event. We will need all the help we can muster to pull this on off.
Due to Spring Break for the school kids there
will not be a club meeting for the month of April.
