May 24, 1998 Oostnet enter railbusiness

On May 23rd, 1998, the NS(Nederlandse Spoorwegen) abandonned the 19 km line between Almelo and Marienberg, in Overijssel, Netherlands. One day later Oostnet, a bus-company started a new service on this line. Not with a really good time-table but another peace of track, connecting Almelo, Vriezenveen, Daalerveen, Vroomshoop, Geerdijk and Marienberg was saved. In Almelo and Marienberg there is a posibilities to change into other NS-trains.
DMU 186 enters Almelo, for it's maiden trip to Marienberg.
These 2 car DMU's do look well ! The are over 45 now.
One hour after the first trip the 186 leaves Almelo again.
Leaving the platform area and about to cross the mainline at the right hand, at the right side a freight engine type 6400 and on the left a switcher 200-series called Sik (goat)

A look through the cab before the trip, at special occassions overhere it always seems to rain ;-), but this time I like the raindrops in this picture.
The tools of an engineer.
Looking over the shoulder of the engineer in the 186 Cab2 entering a station. I should learn to make note someday ;-)
After leaving Marienberg, back to Almelo, the EMU (type SM'90) left a bit later. This EMU came six minutes to late from Emmen headed to Zwolle, and our old DMU had to wait for it. The old 186 was only 3 minutes late in Almelo !
