This page done just for me....

If you found your way to here then you just found the back room. I'm doing this one just for my sake. The rest of the site is for everyone else (almost).

The material I've put on this site (and what is to come) was hard won. It has been a work in progress for the past three years in various other forms. It is information that I've acquired from years of training, working and experimenting. It is information for which I've searched.

The facts belong to everybody. No one has ownership. The way I've presented them belongs to me. All of the written material, all of the graphics took some effort to produce. I'm a mechanic among many other things. An author or artist I am not. What I have put here has a lot of value to me.

If there is something here you want to use get in touch with me. Please have enough self respect to not just steal it. If it is within reason and is of benefit to many there should be no problems. Do remember that the material is copy righted.

I have several reasons for creating this. One of them being I wanted to learn how to build a site and maintain it. Once the bulk of the site is posted I'll concentrate on this end. This endeavor will finally become a hobby.

Another reason is to help out a bit with what I've learned. It's a simple thing to realize that giving a boost to others, no matter how small, makes this planet a tad easier to get along in. With all the crazies out there trying to bring it down we need to give this place all the support we can. A request - figure out a way to help and pitch in.

By putting up these pages I finally got a project back on a track. It had been moving too slow for the past year or so. Committing myself to the site got a fire lit under my butt.

One thing I'm hoping for from all this is feedback, it is one of my major reasons. Feedback will give me the opportunity to dial in this site to what you need and want. I honestly want to do this. The site will become more valuable to visitors and I will get a better understanding of what is important to the people for which I provide a service. I become more valuable (I need a raise - the bills are winning). In this way we all gain.

In creating this work I've done things in a way that others may not agree with (I've heard my share of "why are you doing that??" in regards to this project). Disagreements come from a lack of understanding. I'm not talking about a fact in dispute (such as one time when I saw an argument over which was bigger- a quart or a liter. One of those answers deserve disagreement). I'm referring to my reasons for what I've included, what I didn't, the way I presented it and so forth on down to my choice of background (it was the first one I saw that I liked - figured it wasn't worth spending much time on).

I have been totally convinced that a person with knowledge of some thing has a much better time with that thing. A person who has knowledge of his boat motor will have an easier time with it. Maybe he won't know enough to tear it down to the last nut and bolt then put it back together. He can know enough to make some wise decisions. His understanding of what is going on will give him a motor that doesn't disagree with him. This may sound a bit unusual but I have seen it work many times.

When I wrote these pages I did so with the purpose in mind to inform you why something is done, not just what to do. I shot for bringing about an understanding. Where I think I failed to do this, an enhanced page will be planned. This is one of the areas where your feedback will help.

I have included graphics to enhance what is written. A picture may be worth a thousand words but a picture and a description of it is worth tenfold. It is one of the better ways I've seen to pass on information.

I also feel that the glossary is important. If I'm trying to tell you something about a jackson shaft (made up term!) and you don't have a clue what a jackson shaft is you won't get it. You won't truly understand. The glossary is completely a creation of mine. It wasn't intended to replace any source of information. I hope it helps out once in a while.

The links page will be one of the last to get completed. I plan on providing a wide range of levels on various subjects. I intend to include links that support the information I've given. I'll only include links that I feel are of benefit.

Of all the endeavors I've undertaken, this is one of the most fulfilling. I feel like I'm going to enjoy this for some time.
