(Sorry it's written in American; I'm too lazy to translate for the rest of you!)

  Baked Apples II
Preparation Method: Embers Cooking
Serves: 1
Non-Food Items Needed: aluminum foil or Dutch Oven
Food Items Needed: 1 large baking apple
1 tsp. butter
1 tablespoon brown sugar (use less if desired)
5-6 cinnamon Red Hots candies (small red cinnamon flavored candy)
At Home Prep:
In Camp Prep / Cooking Instructions: Core apple, leaving bottom intact. Fill center of apple with butter, brown sugar and red hots. Wrap securely in foil, place in coals and bake until soft; 20-30 minutes.

Fill apples with 1 tsp butter and 1 or more caramel candies.

  Bird Seed
Preparation Method: No cooking required.
Serves: Make what you need, easily added to or subtracted from
Non-Food Items Needed: Plastic Baggie or some form of individual container
Large bag or bowl for mixing
Measuring cups
Food Items Needed: (per person):Toasted corn kernels
Sunflower seeds (hulled)
Chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, peanuts, or mix)
Granola cereal (plain)
Dried Fruit ( raisins, currents, banana chips, apple chips)
At Home Prep:
In Camp Prep / Cooking Instructions: Each person will mix 1 Tbs. (as a troop 1 to 2 cups) of each ingredient into their bag.
Serving Suggestions:
Comments: This "bird seed" trail mix is crunchy, fruity and really good!! The usual high fat content of trail mix (or gorp) is greatly reduced if you use a low-fat variety of granola.
We used this for a Birthday party activity when the theme was Birds. The kids loved it (younger kids) and each finished their bag with no complaints about taste.

  Camp Rocky Creek Solar Nachos
Preparation Method: Direct sunlight
Serves: 1
Non-Food Items Needed: a bowl
plastic wrap
Food Items Needed: handful of nacho/tortilla chips
fistful of shredded cheddar cheese
At Home Prep:
In Camp Prep / Cooking Instructions: put chips in bowl, cheese on chips, cover with plastic wrap
Set out in direct sunlight until cheese melts.
Serving Suggestions: Remove plastic and eat with fingers. Occasionally lick cheese off fingers
Comments: Foil will work but the girls like to watch the cheese melt. Don't use a plate and don't fill so much that the cheese sticks to the top rather than the chips
You can line the bottom of the bowl with a piece of foil to speed up cooking and have less clean up. This works well for doing as an appetizer and then using the bowl for chili or something else. Diced tomatoes, onions, lettuce, beans or salsa can be added for additional nutritional value. Use low or no salt chips if desired. Regular cheese melts better than low-fat.

These were made at our SU day camp by placing the bowls out in the middle of a closed off road that ran through the park. It was over 100 degrees that day and the girls made ice cream (more like pudding) while the cheese melted (about 15 minutes). To round out the meal, they each brought a specific piece of fruit and made fruit salad.

  Camp Taffy
or what to do with the left-over marshmallows after all of the graham crackers and chocolate are gone and you can't make any more S'mores!!!
Preparation Method: By hand
Serves: 1
Non-Food Items Needed: 2 fingers and 2 thumbs each
Food Items Needed: 1 marshmallow each
At Home Prep:
In Camp Prep / Cooking Instructions: Wash your hands well. Place one marshmallow in between your thumb and pointer finger and squeeze together. Place your other thumb and pointer finger over the marshmallow and squeeze. Keep alternating and squeezing while you pull and stretch the marshmallow until it becomes shiny and smooth taffy. This takes about five minutes.
Serving Suggestions: Eat it from your fingers. It tastes sweeter than marshmallows and should be silky and smooth like taffy.
