At 2:30 P.M. in Japan, Richard Stallman appeared at Yotsuya, Tokyo.
In that week, Japan Unix Society held a large-scale meeting "Internet Week" in Kyoto. As you know, the meeting registration fee was very expensive. The fee was 30,000 yen. (The fee for Japan Unix Society member was 25,000.) Of course, my income is very little and I am still maintained by my parents. I could not go to Kyoto to join the meeting.
Japanese economy is much depressed. Therefore it was thought that few Linux users would join the meeting. Stallman also thought such an idea.
But a lot of Japanese Linux users went to Kyoto to meet Stallman. He had his own church-like booth for four days there. He can build a mobile church for Gnu/Linux using an ancient LP record, a black marker, and a cardboard box.
He is always sleepy and his talk is very sleepy. His sleepy spell and Mass were performed there.
He said to his believers, "You need not follow celibacy."
But in order to be baptized by Stallman, Japanese followers had to follow celibacy. He wanted much donation offered at the mobile church.
He gave rich believers a lot of Indulgence for Gnu/Linux by writing his signature on their lap-top bibles. (2,000 yen donation for one Indulgence.)
Now he sold out his goods for mission in hand in Kyoto. On 12/19/1998, he went to Tokyo to mission at Yotsuya.
At the 6th Floor of Marushou Building, the mobile church at Yotsuya was built. Marushou Building consists of Supermarket Marushou, Japan Unix Society, several companies. It is located near "Yotsuya 3 choume station" of Tokyo Eidan Subway Marunouchi Line.
Over 100 persons joined the meeting.
His spell was completed at 4:30 P.M.
He spoke his life and works that all Unix old users knew. He promoted Gnu/Linux there.
Why must we Japanese use Linux? Why?
He likes Green Tea more than Red Tea. He likes Tea Service System. Therefore a listener thought Stallman did not like JAVA. Stallman explained JAVA with a joke.
His explanation was neutral. Oops. He likes LISP most.
Oh! My God! I obtained his portrait.
