While Katya's assistant is down in the diving bell, a herd of migrating whales close in on the sphere. It is struck by one of the creatures, and the assistant is killed. Katya insists upon going back down as soon as the bathysphere can be repaired...

As the divers blast the foreign creature with acetylene torches it seems to shrink and disappear completely. They attach the line, and the capsule is hauled into the Seaview's missile chamber for decontamination....




TERROR ON DINOSAUR ISLAND

Nelson and Sharkey, who have managed to bail out at the last moment, set out to scan the strange fog-bound surroundings as they wait for a rescue party from the Seaview. Aboard the sub, seaman Benson has switched his midship watch with his friend Grady, who has bow watch. As the Seaview moves ahead toward the island, a huge brontosaurus looms up from the deep and smashes the sub amidships...



KILLERS OF THE DEEP

Suddenly, missiles from the sub blast the flying sub, and as Crane bails out, Nelson is forced to ditch in the sea. Nelson is picked up by the Macklin, but Crane is captured by the enemy sub, where Captain Ruiz explains that having already stolen three, he needs only one more missile to make his country a major nuclear power...



THE PHANTOM STRIKES

Nelson and Crane are further mystified when they learn that the U-444 was sunk in 1916 in the North Atlantic, more than 30.000 miles away. After surfacing, they spot a man clinging to mysterious debris...

Nelson takes the Flying Sub immediately to Washington where he explains to McHenry and two United Nations representatives, August Weber, a Suiss, and Eric Carleton, English, that their only chance is to explode a nuclear device in the atmosphere to blow the burning gases out of the Earth's magnetic field...



GRAVEYARD OF FEAR

He explains to Nelson that in his study of plankton, he discovered a substance that restores and preserves youth. As the Seaview approaches the sunken ship, its sonar goes haywire...

A foreign electrical expert aboard, Captain Brent, who strangely resembles a 16th century pirate, who went down with his ship and treasure, alludes to a connection between the disaster and the Spanish doubloon one the divers reported finding. After communication with 11th fleet commander Admiral Howard, Nelson and Crane order Mini-Sub and diving crews to stand-by for further reconnaissance of the area....



THE DEATH SHIP

The plan is that on that day, the Seaview will have a test run, with only a skeleton crew of technicians instead of the normal crew of 125 men, during which time it will be taken over and used to torpedo the Peace Ship.

Before Gantt an other survivors, excluding Balter, are rescued, Gantt sights a giant spider-like creature looming up from the briny depths. When the Navy Board initiates inquiries, Nelson and the Seaview are detailed to retrieve the remaining four fuel cylinders in Gantt's sub...

THE RETURN OF THE PHANTOM

Nelson is visited by another apparition, however, Lani, a beautiful Polynesian girl who warns that Krueger will return and once again demand Crane's body. Nelson gives Crane his gun with orders not to let him have it back under nay circumstances...
