*The Dish*

This is my Our Lady Peace News and Information page. You can see a bunch of quotes taken from the band, soundclips, and just tidbits of info about the band.

**Note: On the soundclips where OLP talk, you may have to turn the volume up on your speakers. Sorry for the inconvience!**

Our Lady Peace just won the MuchMusic People's Choice Award for favorite Canadian Group. Go to MuchMusic for more detail.

"We just want to make a record the same way we did before, sweating it out in the studio and arguing and just being really passionate about music and nothing else."
Raine Maida

"I never like to slag other bands in public. It's a tough enough business as it is. I was offended just in the sense that there were many other bands that had a much bigger influence and were more important in our lives than the Smashing Pumpkins. So I thought it was pretty pretentious to flatter himself like that."
Raine Maida, on Billy Corgan's comment. (see following)

"Were still looking for Our Lady Peace's phone number, we're going to call then up and make friends with them, tell them thanks a lot for keeping our old music alive."
Billy Corgan

I guess Tre Cool of Green Day is "Tre Jealous" of Our Lady Peace. Tre Cool slammed 1998's Edgefest lineup, as well as our beloved OLP. " At least we're not playing with Our Lady Piss [sic] . I know that they're popular in Canada, but that's one bad band. Our Lady Piss are to rock 'n' roll what Huey Lewis and the News were to music in the 80s-- and the singers both look the same." I sense a rivalry. Read the article

Want to hear about the song 4am? Here you go!

Guess what I found! There is a single out for clumsy, with the songs Clumsy, Let you Down, Starseed, and Hope. It's an Austrailian import, so got to your record store and buy it now!

"As soon as you get into arenas there is a huge risk of losing that connection with the audience, and if that happens, we won't play arenas again. So far it seems fine."
Raine Maida, on arena shows.

"It doesn't matter how many tickets we sell, it's not about that, you know, we never want to be judged on how many record we sell, or how many arenas. We want to be judged on our body of work and that takes along time."
Raine Maida

"One of the songs I remember looking up cause generally I'm playing, concentrating on my guitar and the band and I turn around and notice this 9,000 people, and right to the top! And people have their hands in the air, and it was one of those moments where you think, 'wow. what the hell am I doing here?'"
Mike Turner, on the Edmonton concert-- there were actually 12,000 people there.

"We're human... We're not entertainers, and I think that's the difference. You can be entertaining, but you don't have to cross that line to be an entertainer. I'll quit before any of us become entertainers."
Raine Maida

Did you know... That lead singer Raine Maida's name is actually Michael? Raine is his middle name, and he switched it because he thought two Michaels in a band would be confusing. (Look at The Tea Party's Jeff's)

Album Info The band will most likely be touring the States well into 1999, and only stop by a studio every so often, so don't be expecting one coming out anytime soon.

Did you know... The "Records that Changed Their Lives" are: Raine: The Lion and the Cobra by Sinead O'Connor Mike: Never Mind the Bollocks by The Sex Pistols Jeremy: Quardrophenia by The Who Duncan: Grace by Jeff Buckley

"It's tough to be on level 10 every night. But for the most part, I take good care of trying to put myself in the right frame of mind half and hour before each show. I meditate to try to put myself in that space. If you go on stage with a million business things going through your mind, it's impossible.
Raine Maida, on his intense on-stage persona

Our Lady Peace will not be playing at 1998's Edgefest. They will tour the States, take a couple weeks off, then head over to Europe where they tour again.
