Three brothers and a good friend comprise Bitterlily, a Richmond, VA based bi-polar pop rock band. " Take off your blacks and dig through the closet for your freshest daisy yellows", says lead singer/songwriter Tom McCormack.

Bitterlily's debut CD Torch The Sun is a rhythm & melody based collection of six songs recorded at David Lowery and John Morand's Sound of Music Studio in Richmond.

About the Band

Tom's acoustic guitar is backed by older brother Dave on strat. 18 year-old younger brother Mike almost fronts with his crisp drumming. Johnny Wetlaufer floats through most of the songs on a fretless bass and plays a 5-string G&L on others.

Susan Hussey of The Richmond Music Journal says, "Although boasting only six tracks, this CD is a primo first-class production. I listened to it five or six times for this review and then another three or four for sheer pleasure. I had separation issues forcing myself to turn of the CD player...

'To Finally Thank You' the first track, really gears up the expectations for the rest of the music. My absolute favorite track has to go to the title song, 'Torch the Sun'. Eight minutes of anything is either ecstacy if you're loving it, or torture if you're not.

I learned to program my Cd player to repeat Torch six times before giving it a rest. Guess that sums it up."

The Band formed after Tom released a very well received solo acoustic tape, called "Seven Songs". Early in 1996 the CD Torch The Sun hit local music stores and was instantly received.

A fresh new sound, a terrific live show, word of mouth, and radio airplay on Richmond's 106.5 and 104.7 FM, plus extensive college radio airplay in VA, NC, DE, TN has brought Bitterlily to this point. Listen in and you'll see.
