BRYCE'S DEAD KENNEDYS PAGE
The Dead Kennedys, formed in 1977, became one of the most successful punk bands ever within just a few years. When they first collaborated, the members of the band were: Eric Boucher, a.k.a. Jello Biafra, (vocals), Ray Glasser, a.k.a. East Bay Ray, (guitar), Klaus Flouride (bass), and Bruce Slesinger, a.k.a. Ted, (drums). They released their debut single, California Über Alles in 1979, and the album Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables came soon after in 1980. In 1982, D. H. (Darren) Peligro became the band's new drummer. Unfortunately, the band's albums have been the subjects of seizure and prosecution in America. Biafra made a stand against this politically motivated intimidation on the basis of the First Amendment which guarantees every American citizen the right to free speech. Finally, in August 1987, Biafra was acquitted by a Judge who overruled a deadlocked jury and declared a mistrial. The whole ugly affair destroyed the Dead Kennedys and they finally broke up.
