Angel Baby

I never had the chance to get to know you well my dear,
Or touch your chubby little cheeks or draw you ever near
Or hold your little fist clenched hand and walk along the street
In fact my little precious one, we hardly got to meet
For many months I carried you deep within my womb
God formed each delicate inch of you within that tiny room
Your birth was such a blessing to our lives upon this earth
You brought to our lives meaning and a greater sense of worth.
Your face just like your Daddy's, your smile so big and wide
Oh how the love abounded from our hearts down deep inside
A product of our love, a future full of dreams
But somehow little one, your life was just not meant to be
This all seems so confusing how suddenly uneased
Within our hearts we cry to God for we are so bereaved
You left so soon to fly away to open loving arms
And Heaven is so lucky to be graced with all your charm
And from on Earth we struggle to understand just why
The Lord had picked our baby to be the one to die
There's a halo on your head and wings upon your shoulder
And Heaven's awful lucky to get to see you grow older
We will be alright my dear, somehow - maybe...
For we take solace in the fact you're now an Angel Baby.
