Not Available in the the United States

While smaller companies, probably because they are small, do not differentiate between the needs and desires of their customers in various lands, the major labels often maintain entirely separate lines for Great Britain from what they sell to the United States or Canada. This list represents significant releases in England that I was able to learn about.

PLEASE NOTE that EMI continues to carry certain titles in England after they have been deleted from the domestic U.S. catalog, and these remain available to U.S. dealers through the EMI Special Imports program, which provides a quarterly list, at which time (and only at this time) a dealer may place an order for such titles. Titles marked [EMI SI] below appeared on the March 1997 Special Imports list. Certain discriminating U.S. dealers also order for stock from this list, but cannot reorder after the title is sold unless the CD appears on the subsequent list--a word to the wise! Also note that monaural recordings are indicated by {m}.

[Beecham had a special talent for making orchestral minatures seem like masterpieces. This collection of 18 succulent confections belongs in everybody's collection of lighter music.]

SIR THOMAS BEECHAM, Bart. (BSO, rec. 1910-18; LPO, rec. 1936-39)
A collection, not always in the best sound quality, of Beecham's activities before a microphone: his pioneering acoustic 78's, a complete live Dvorak 6th from 1936 and a Beecham's Pills radio concert from 1939.
SYMPOSIUM 1096-7{m}
[Strangely, the entire Symposium catalog--aside from this set--seems to be listed with an American distributor. Since this title remains in the Gramophone Catalogue, I list it too. If you are willing to put up with the surface noise, this set offers unique qlimpses into an area of the conductor's career not overly-well documented.]
