Modernised Morris Minor
Modernised Morris Minor

This Morris Minor was built in 1964 in England and imported by its first owner to New Zealand in 1965 where it received the registration number CZ 2868 which it still carries today, 33 years later.
The original motor was 1100 cc's and when the car was undergoing its four year restoration it ran initially with a 1200 cc Nissan Sunny motor and gear box. The Dellorto carburettors that are on the current Toyota 4A-GE motor were previously on the Nissan motor.
The wheels which are Minilite replicas are made in New Zealand by Performance Wheels and go under the name "Superlite". The wheels on Ursula are 14"x6" wide, and the tyres are Falken 205/60/14.
The front suspension is rebuilt Morris Minor with gas shock absorbers, Marina torsion bars, lowered 25mm, and all bushes replaced with nolathane nylon bushes. The rear suspension is lowered by a similar amount, with more nolathane bushes, Koni adjustable shock absorbers and anti-sway bar. Although this suspension set up sounds primitive, the road-holding is surprisingly good as the previous owners exploits at our local race-track will testify.
The front brakes are Nissan discs with hard pads and a dual split braking circuit. The rear has large eight and a half inch rear drum brakes and the whole system makes light work of stopping this car as the weight is 15cwt.
