The main Farmer roots that I been diggin' on, is Abner Farmer. You can go down 'ar to th' little bunny to find his children and more of his descendants. You 'no how 'em bunnies are!!

A comparision of information




Now that you been a'ganderin' through SOME of th' family roots, here's th' question that I been axin' myself: How are ALL 'ese here dog-goned Farmers related? Here's a quick outline of what I got on these families.
You do got some more time, aintche?


Abner and Mary (Ashlock) Farmer.

They lived in Anderson County over 'ar in the 6th district in a holler called Farmer's Hollow. They lived purty clost to the Clinch River. Mary Ashlock was the daughter of William and Sarah Sullens Ashlock. Abner and Mary Farmer had 8 youngins. Four o 'es eight chilern married into the same ol' King family. The King family lived down 'ar in the crossroads of Long Hollow Road and Laurel Road here in Anderson County. It was called Buckhorn Valley in the 1850's. You kin see the Kings famly line up 'ar above.


Moses and Sarah (_) Farmer.

They lived in Anderson County, too. Moses had a iron ore works with his brother John down 'ar in Roane County, Tn in 1819 accordin to some Roane Co court records. You kin see more about that if'n ye visit the Roots of Roane Co page. Moses, he died in 1827, intestate, 'at means he didnt bother to leave a will. His wife Sarah got custody of children: Henry, Lodemia (married a Nichols) and Sarah Elizabeth Farmer (marries a William S Coward). Their son William Coward has his name on some of the deeds with the son of Abner and Mary A Farmer, William S. Farmer. William S Farmer even names one of his own sons Thomas Coward Farmer. Was Moses and Abner Farmer brothers?


Jeremiah Farmer

Jeremiah lived across the Clinch River on the south side of Anderson County in the 4th district over 'ar in Block House Valley. His descendants are a'still livin' in that area today. The old York School house is still a'standin' in th area of where 'is family lived. Farmer's Grove Church was started by part of this family. Who was Jeremiah's father? They is mention of an Isaac and Fanny Farmer in some of the early court records. Since Jeremiah named one of his sons Isaac, could the older Isaac have been Jeremiah's father?


Henry and Catherine (_) Farmer

They lived in Anderson County in the 4th district on the south side of the Clinch River. I beleive they lived right clost to the river across from Elza Gate. Henry died in 1831, leaving land in 5 portions. His daughter, Catherine, is selling her fith portion of land to Alfred Cross of Anderson County, Tn., in the 1870's. Who were her brothers and sisters? Who was them other 4 land holders? How was th' Farmer's over 'ar in Cass County, Missouri connected through THIS Henry Farmer? William S Farmer had custody of Catherine, an idiot, and was atakin care of her in the late 1880's. Was she his cousin, or what?


John and Nancy (Henderson) Farmer

John and Nancy Farmer lived in Anderson County and had two girls; Mary and Samintha. These two girls, well, they married two brothers; John and George Johnson. They lived in the area of Block House Valley of the 4th district in Anderson County, 'crost the Clinch River from Abner Farmer. John Farmer died in 1847, intestate; you already know what that means. John had a brother James; found mentioned in some court documents. John's wife, Nancy was the daughter of William and Juda (Martin) Henderson. You kin find the Hendeson family up 'ar above too.


William Henry and Mary (Sullens) Farmer

Henry and Mary Farmer lived out in the Dutch Valley community of Anderson Co., Tn. Mary Sullens was a sister to Mary Ashlock's mother Sarah Sullens Ashlock! Henry and Mary Farmer's descendants still live in this area, also, today. Henry lived in the Poplar Creek and East Fork portion of the county. Henry died in 1871. His children married into these families:

• Seiber
• Hoskins
• Johnson
• Tunnell
• Sharp




William and Sarah Ann (Tiller) Farmer

William and Sarah Ann Tiller Farmer lived clost to the Roane and Anderson County line. One of their daughters married into the King family. Sarah Tiller Farmer was a descendant of Daniel Tiller. William was married before Sarah, but I dont know who she was. He had three children by his first wife.
