Hello! My name is Corbin Michael. I was born on October 29, 1994 at 4:31 am. My mommy says that I was a very big boy - 9 lbs 14 oz and 20.5 inches tall! I am not really a baby anymore even though Mommy calls me her baby. I am 5 years old and I weigh 43 lbs and stand about 43 inches tall. I have blond hair and blue eyes. (Click here to see pictures of me & the rest of the family.) My daddy's name is Gilberto but my family calls him Tachy. Mommy's name is just Dana. I live with Mommy during the week and visit Daddy during the weekends. They both love me a bunch! I have two grandmas, two grandpas, three aunts and six uncles and one baby cousin named Tyler. I go to half day kindergarten five days a week. I also attend an afterschool program at the YMCA. My kindergarten teacher is Miss Kasidas and my teachers at the Y are Miss Molly, Miss Farrah and Miss Brandy. They are too cool! I have lots of friends, like Matthew, Diamond, Thomas, Tyler, Zachary and Steven. My mom and I moved to Connecticut this summer so she could go to graduate school (whatever that is) up here. I am learning my new telephone number & street address. I already know how to write my name & I am starting to "read" books by memorizing the words Mommy tells me are on the pages. I also know all my colors & can count past twenty pretty well. I love to play with action figures like Wolverine and Spiderman, but I also like to play with my stuffed animals and board games. My all time favorite toys and videos are Pokemon. My favorite tv shows are Little Bear and BLUE'S CLUES on Nick Jr. I also like all Disney movies, but my favorite is Hercules! I love music & dancing. Some of my favorites are the Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin (because I am very proud of my Puerto Rican heritage), and Dave Matthews Band. My mommy wants to tell you guys more about me so she is helping me with this page. You can see what she has to say below. Make sure to visit me often!

My Pets

My reward for becoming potty trained was a little tan mouse named Rosie. After Mommy got me Rosie, she got me two more mice for my 4th birthday, Lila and Basil. A lot happened from October until we moved in July. We got rid of Basil and kept two of Lila and Basil's daughters. Lila is grey, one daughter is tan and white, and the other daughter is all white. We had to leave the mice in NJ with Grandma Margaret. I was very sad about this. I can't wait until Mommy and I own our very own house so we can have pets again.

Grammar and Syntax according to Corby

  1. When expressing the desire to not do something or inability to do something, one should state this using the word can't before the other verb in the sentence. Example: I can't want to pick up the toys, Mommy.

Mommy just wanted me to tell everyone that I am really not afraid of horses anymore. It has been about two years since my incident with Dusty, but I guess it is one of my memorable stories that Mommy likes to tell. So here goes...

The Tale of a Pony and a Monkey

Once upon a time, at the Morris County 4H fair, a little monkey, err... boy named Corbin was visiting the petting zoo with one of Mommy's friends. The little monkey-boy was thoroughly enjoying the big tan pony named Dusty until something tradgic occurred. Dusty, being a very hungry pony, smelled the animal crackers that Corbin was sitting on in his stroller. Dusty thought it would be a good idea to try to eat those animal crackers. He thrust his head in the stroller (monkey-boy still inside) to retrieve the tasty morsels only to get his head stuck under the stroller top. Monkey-boy screamed because it seemed that Dusty was trying to "eat [his] butt". Mommy's friend tried to pull the stroller away from Dusty the big pony, but Dusty lifted his head and the stoller with it. Corbin (half monkey-half boy) was lifted into the air, stroller and all. When Mommy's friend finally wrestled the stroller away from the famished pony, Corbin was already traumatized. To this day, Corbin is petrified by the sight of real, live horses. (Although he talks about them daily and likes to look at them in books...) Mommy is hoping that one day Corbin will outgrow his fear and be able to go to see live farm animals once more.

~~ANIMAL THERAPY~~

Mommy has great news about Corbin today! Yesterday (May 31st 1997), Corbin attended and open house at the daycare center where Grandma Margaret works. There was little games (like a bean-bag toss), art and crafts (like spin art), food and (get ready for this...) live animals. Corbin was face to face with his biggest fear - there were goats, sheep, and a pony . Grandma asked Corbin if he wanted to ride on the pony and he agreed to get on it! The horse handler put the brave little man on the pony's back, but Corbin decided he didn't want the horse to move. So he sat on the pony's back for a while and then got off. Shortly after that, while looking at the other animals, he let out a "moo". The man attending the animals said, "Oops! A cow got out of the fence!" and placed Corbin in the little fenced in area with the animals. Grandma reports that he screamed. The man promptly removed Corbin and gave him some corn to feed the goat. Corbin enjoyed that. He even asked to go on the pony a second time, but didn't because he had no desire to wait on line. This trip to Y's Owls was quite a break-through for Corby. Mommy called Corbin at his daddy's house yesterday afternoon to confirm the story Grandma had told her. He was very excited to tell Mommy about all the animals he had seen and fed. Mommy let him know she was proud of him. Perhaps this marks the beginning of the end for Corby's fear of four legged farm animals...

In Corbin's Words

Favorite sayings include:
  1. "That's great!!!"
  2. " Is that's a good deal?"
  3. "Dragon Flyz maximize!!!"
  4. "We just figured out Blue's Clues!!!"
  5. "I love you!"

NOTE: Corbin got a new potty chair in like July and "we" are still slowly learning how to use it!
~UPDATE~ Corbin has been completely potty trained for several months. He really started staying dry most of the day in March. Here we are in July (1998), a year later, and he stays dry through the night no problem. Of course, it required a little bribery on my part, but that is another story...
