Joseph Howell, b 12 Jul 1761 d 16 Oct 1818 md ca 1784 Lucinda Smith, b ca 1762VA d ca 1844 York Co SC, dau of Josiah Smith and Elizabeth Collier.  Joseph Howell and Lucinda Smith Howell are both buried at Rhoda Smith Burial Ground on Broad River in York Co SC.  Joseph Howell was Overseer for Josiah Smith in Henry Co VA on the 1783 Tax List.  Joseph Howell's state settlement was completed in 1829 (Will Box 241).  Lucinda Smith Howell's Inventory of Estate was dated 22 Apr 1844 with her oldest son, Williamson Howell, administrator.
