Walter worked as a mechanic. He served two years in the US Army during World War II. Most of this time was spent in the Asia Theater where he saw a lot of active engagements of the enemy on the Burma Road in India and China. He attained the rank of S/Sgt.Marriage recorded in the Lynchburg Courthouse in Lynchburg, Virginia Marriage Register #9. He was 21 and she was 20. Both listed as single. His occupation at the time was as a soldier. In the "Remarks" section it states, "Husbands mother swears he is over 21 yrs. of age; written consent of wife's mother filed.
