Churchill Fields L.B.C. is Closed! 49 Years of Great Lawn Bowling!

ATTENTION MEMBERS and BOWLERS:

NEWS: after a meeting between the Club and City Officials in October, a decision was reached to close the Churchill Fields Lawn Bowling Club.
The Club has been at Churchill Park since 1958.

The lack of on-site Parking was cited as the main reason the Club was no longer viable
and was reponsible for its dwindling membership.

CAN THE CLUB BE SAVED? CAN IT GET A REPRIEVE?

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to save Churchill Fields,
please send us an email
In the meantime, contact your aldermen and tell them you want
the lawn bowling club to continue.

Other Clubs that were facing extinction decided to install artificial greens while other clubs contacted private sponsors to help finance them.

The City of Hamilton has shown interest in converting the clubhouse into a Seniors' Community Centre.
However, a lack of on-site Parking will prevent such a centre from being successful.

But, perhaps a mixed-used facility combining a Senior's Centre (open year round)
and Lawn Bowling would be viable if a Parking Lot was built.
