Welcome to Antarctica and my winter-over web page.
I am Josh McCoy and I have
been living and working at
McMurdo Station, Antarctica since October 8th, 1996. I will
continue working in the Crary Science and Engineering Center until
mid-October
1997. The primary purpose of this web page is to allow anyone
an opportunity to follow my journey through an Antarctic winter on-line.
I'll be updating my on-line journal with digital pictures and text, hopefully
accurately depicting the nature of human life in one of the most extreme
environments
on earth. In addition to
working in the Crary Lab, I'll also be a DJ on FM 104.5, feel free to
tune-in to my radio
show every Tuesday from 8PM to 10PM. I'll also be working in the lush
McMurdo
Greenhouse.
On March 7, 1997 the final flight of the season left McMurdo and Antarctica.
Some of the places I visited this season include the South Pole and
Lake Bonney.
During the summer season, McMurdo was occasionally visited by
tourist
vessels
such as the
Kapitan Klebnikov.
