Duchy of Courland

Friedrich, (1587-1642) &
Wilhelm (1587-1616), Kettlers

The mint in Jelgava (Mittau) was renewed during the reign of Friedrich and Wilhelm. The only denominations, schillings and 3 groschen coins were struck in accordance with monetary system of Poland. Because of the missing proper legends and portraits, it is not possible to divide schillings into "Friedrich's" mintage and "Wilhelm's" mintage. Therefore schillings are cataloged as one common mintage. Only 3 groschen have the respective portraits of Friedrich and Wilhelm and are cataloged separately.
