It's almost funny, how the precepts of honor and duty can be warped and twisted until they are barely recognizable. When I had my revelation, I looked back upon my life and saw myself with disgust. Odd, that this would lead me to inner peace.
I grew up as part of the Yakuza society. My father and grandfathers for generations were in this formerly honorable profession. Although some compared us to the "Mafia" of the western world, we only served our masters loyally and with a proud sense of duty. We were respected, if not a little feared.
In recent decades, our service on Marketplace has been corrupted more and more by the greed of our masters. The honor of being Yakuza was secondary to our role as "thugs" in the enforcement of MegaCorp doctrine. Of course, the change came so gradually that we didn't even realize it. How our ancestors must have cringed when seeing what we had become.
As time went on, I began to question our role in these "acquisitions" of holdings in other cosms. Apparantly, I was the only one who did so. When I let slip my discomfort, I was looked upon as a traitor. I began to fear for my life. When I reached the market called "Earth," I left the Yakuza, becoming ronin - a warrior with no master.
My great revelation came when I was assisting some natives in the restoration of balance to their planet. In an underground temple, I found myself overwhelmed by a Holy presence. Great Buddha himself made himself known to me. Never before in my experiences on Marketplace had I seen anything to compare with the flood of spirituality. I immediately turned my life to the pursuit of peace and justice in the name of Buddha.
Although I looked upon my own past with revulsion, I saw that the only way to restore balance to my spirit was through the rectification of my past misdeeds. I have since worked against 3327 and his Kanawa MegaCorp, both directly against his lieutenants and by exerting my knowledge in the markets of Japan. It is an uphill battle, but perhaps I can make my ancestors proud.
