By Keith Adams

The Crocodile-Hunter who became a Movie Producer!

Keith Adams was born in Bridport, Tasmania from a farming background. In those days hunting and fishing was a way of survival for some....but Keith put his well honed skills to greater use later, as his film and writings expose!

In 1955 the unknown Aussie battler made an amateur film.
It was "the world's most colossal, flipping home movie show" about him and his family surviving the Outback deserts and shooting monster crocodiles in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Keith Adams and his family's adventures of travelling Australia's outback over a lifetime culminated in the production of firstly, the film Northern Safari, which was shown for over 30 years to millions of people in every English speaking country plus Germany and Holland.
He went on to make millions of dollars screening the film himself in every state in Australia, and then in the USA, Canada, England, South Africa and New Zealand.
In one city, he did better box office than The Sound of Music! ....also Jesus Christ Superstar... decades before David Attenborough or the Bush Tucker Man, Keith Adams' home-movie showed how to live with the mammals, marsupials, reptiles, rodents, giant fish, dugongs and sharks of Northern Australia.
He established his home base in a cave in the Sir Edward Pellew Islands and hunted together with the Aborigines, sharing their secrets...... They called him "Uncle".

Keith Adams and his battered old Buick with the crocodile head on top were featured in every metropolitan newspaper in Australia.
Forget about the imitative Johnny-come-lately Crocodile Dundee!
Here is the original Aussie Battler from the 1950s and this is his life story....from rags to riches! ........And he still prefers his cave in the Gulf of Carpentaria!

"Variety" USA - Northern Safari is a fascinating exploration piece, giving a highly articulate account of stark reality.

"Stuttgarter" Germany - No matter how much one dislikes the word unequalled, for Northern Safari it is valid indeed.

"Argus" England - A simple record of a nagnificent adventure, it will hold everyone spellbound.

"The Australian" - A remarkable no punches pulled colour film, a winner at Cannes.

"Oak Bay Leader" Canada - Its true reporting and that's what makes Northern Safari so fascinating.

"New Zealand Star" The best full length film ever made on Australia.

"The Sunday Times" - The Genius in a battered Buick.
This ordinary bloke, a couple of streets away from me in Scarborough has got a masterpiece on his hands. Being an average dinkum chap with guts, know-how and plain common sense, he's in a predicament.
He has shot an adventure and natural history film which is also a cross between a social document and an adults only thriller.

The bloke and his wife and sister braved the dead desert heart of the continent, across to the Gulf of Carpentaria and back, recording thousands of square miles on colour film. What they shot with their cameras is beautiful, ugly, clean and sometimes as dirty as swarms of flies around a dead dingo's eye.

They see an Aboriginal woman by the hot, red wayside - an Aboriginal woman with a huge face cancer and matchstick legs. Huddled by this pitiful Australian mother are two starving children with swollen bellies and haunted eyes.

The women see the slow death of drowned dugongs, as natives slowly capture their food.
They witness the death of a turtle killed by a stick thrust into it's brain. Their fox terrier dog fights emus and a 3.6 metre shark, attacks a 6 metre crocodile and runs yelping from lesser devils.
