St.Michaels - Part 2
I was back to Patna permanently by December 1996 , after 4 years of my stay at R.K.M.V . The session in R.K.M.V was jan-december but that in St.Michales was april - march . So to avoid any confusions I retook admission to Standard 7 having passed Standarad 7 in R.K.M.V . I had to attend only 3 months of classes before I was in Standard 8 . One incident , which I reckon transformed my approach to life and changed my views about the importance of outperforming others , was participating in a district level computer quiz contest . I qualified to represent my school at the contest from amongst 180 students in my class . I was thrilled , and in the finals I went all out and got my school the first prize . Back in the class , the appreciation I got from my friends prompted me to keep trying my best and repeating such feats for the rest of my life at St.Michaels .
The friends I made initially :
Sumit Gautam was my first friend since we had adjacent seats and he was always ready with an opinion about all the other students . There was one boy sitting in the first row of the class with beard (uncommon in Standard 7) , who was always ready to fool the teachers with his witty questions , a habit that fetched him plenty of disrepute amongst the teachers , with all the teachers fearing what and when is he going to ask his next question (read drop another bombshell ) . In turn this made him instantly popular among the students , who were ever ready to enjoy the way in which a teacher was torn apart . He was Anand Gopal Datta (presently in IIT KGP), not an instant friend , but the friendship started to grow once we started to play cricket together . Though I was mostly an introvert in class I made quite a few friends  Manoj , Ashutosh Abhishek , Arbind , Shishir Suman , Sumit Narayan , Vivek Kumar to name a few.
Another person who was a competitor for long before we actually became friends - Shitesh Prakash .
