Robert Adam

Robert Adam 1822 - 12 May 1885 aged 63, born in Ayr, Scotland, wed 30 Jun 1852 in Glasgow to Ann Houston Borland c1830 - 3 Sep 1911 born at Paisley, Scotland. They sailed for Australia on the Mobile, arriving 12 Oct 1852 (with surname Adams). Both are buried at Inglewood. The family came to Tarnagulla about 1860, before choosing the Inglewood area.

Hugh Adams 1761 - 1849 is believed to be born at Adamstown, Parish of Rokeel, Broughshire, Ballymena, Northern Ireland. He and his wife Margaret Carleton 1780-1857 had 3 sons who migrated to Wangoom/Warrnambool

2. Hugh Adams 1819 - 21 Oct 1899, arrived at Melbourne 11 Sept 1849 on the Courier. On the same ship was Jane White aged 25 (born 1828), and her brother John White aged 23. Jane wed 5 Dec 1853 to Hugh Adams and died 11 March 1888 aged 60, daughter of Margaret McClure and John White.

3. Samuel Adams 1822 - 1909 wed Mary Ann Barber in Ireland and 4 children were born before they came to Victoria on the 'Typhoon' 1852-3.
The Typhoon was a new iron vessel on her maiden voyage, the first iron vessel to leave Scotland, leaving Greenock on 22 Sept 1852. She was dismasted by rough weather in Bay Biscay and put in to Liston for 10 weeks where new wooden masts were fitted.
She arrived at Melbourne 4 March 1853

Her passengers included Samuel Adams 30, Mrs Adams 30, Esther 7, Hugh 6, Alexander 2 and infant John died during the voyage.

Samuel and Mary Ann purchased 320 acres at Wangoom, called 'Cherry Hill' and 2 daughters were born, Margaret 1855 #5026 and Martha 1856 #9238.
Mary Ann Barber was born 1823 at Glenwherry? County Antuim, Northern Ireland and died at Wangoom on 13 Aug 1858, aged 35, daughter of Esther and Alexander Barber.
