Student of his father Zhang Shou Shan, he also trained Mei Hua Tang Lang under his shi gung (shifu Wang Yu Shan). He is also a shifu on the Tai Ji Mei Hua Tang Lang Quan style.
He published several books and DVSs about the Tai Ji Mei Hua Tang Lang style.
At present Zhang Bingdou teaches in Qin Dao at a school named after his Grandfather Li Kun Shan.
