Report of Dr.D.R.Makkar, State Secretary IMA-Haryana Of  Kidnapping Incident at Palwal

State Office received a phone call from Dr.Subash Dua President IMA-Palwal regarding Assault and  robbery of Dr.Subash Goel and Dr.Manju Goel and kidnapping of their son at 3A.M 0n 9-9-2001. State President Dr. D. S. Jaspal, State Secretary Dr.D.R.Makkar, WC member Dr.T.L.gelhotra reached Palwal at 4 P.M. on 9-9-2001 the detailed report is as follows.“Indian Medical Association Haryana State Strongly condemns the incident of robbery and assault of Dr.Subash Goel and Dr.Manju Goel of Sukhram Ram Hospital Palwal and kidnapping of their only son on 9-9-2001. State President Dr.D.S.Jaspal and  State Secretary Dr.D.R.Makkar  visted Palwal on 9-9-2001 to assess the ground realities . An emergency meeting of IMA-Palwal was held on 9-9-2001., It was Presided over by State President Dr.D.S.Jaspal, Dr.D.R.Makkar State Secretary and Dr. T.R.Gelhotra were also members of the State delegation. Following resolutions were passed:

1. IMA strongly condemns the incident of robbery, assault on doctors and kidnapping of  their  only son. IMA demands the immediate arrest of the culprits and safe return of the kidnapped child. Members of IMA-Palwal were on strike. The State President Dr.D.S.Jaspal appealed them to maintain cool and patience and to call off strike in public interest and to avoid any inconvenience to public. The strike was called off immediately. It was decided  that all members of IMA would bear black bands as a mark of protest till the culprits are arrested.
2. It was further resolved that if the miscreants were not arrested within next 4 days, there would be a token strike of one day of  members of IMA-State.
3. It was further decided  that the members of IMA- would observe  complete Haryana  Medical   bandh if  child is not rescued and culprits  arrested within 7 days.
4. A delegation of IMA-Haryana  comprising of State President  Dr. D.S.Jaspal, State  Secretary, Dr.D.R.Makkar,  Working Committee member Dr.T.L.Gelhotra, Dr.P.K.Babbar President IMA-Faridabad, Dr.Subash Dua President IMA-Palwal Branch Dr. Mongia Past President IMA-Faridabad and other members of Faridabad and Palwal met the Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad Shri S.C.Jain IAS and demanded early arrest of culprits and release of the child and security to the members. The Deputy Commissioner assured the State President the culprits will be arrested at earliest and patrolling by police force would be increased.
5. The delegation also contacted  The Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Ranvir Sharma  He assured the needful is being done and the police is already working on some clues and culprits will be arrested shortly.  He also assured all protection to members of medical fraternity.”
