Edson Family

Generation 1

Thomas Edson is our first known ancestor in the Edson line. He was born in the 13th year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England. He married Elizabeth Copson and they had at least three sons, the third being:

Generation 2

Samuel Edson was born 5 September 1613 at Fillongley, Warwickshire, England and died 19 or 20 July 1692 at West Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. He was baptised 5 February 1613 (this is possible as before 1752 the new year began 25 March) at St. Mary and All Saints Parish Church, Fillongley, Warwickshire, England. He married Susanna Orcutt 1638 at Fillongley, Warwickshire, England. She was born 20 February 1617/8 at Fillongley, Warwickshire, England and died 18 October 1699 at West Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. They immigrated from England to Salem, MA in June 1639 and removed from Salem to Bridgewater, MA c1648. Both are buried at the Old Grave Yard (South St.), Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. Generation 3

Joseph Edson (Reference # 2064) was born c1649 at Salem, Essex Co., MA and died before December 1712 when his estate was settled by his second wife. He was a veteran of King Philip's War. He married first Experience Field or Holbrook 1678. She was born 1661 and died September 1685 "a few days after the birth of her youngest child." He married second to Mary Turner (Reference # 2065) 2 November 1686 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. See the Turner Family for information on her ancestry.

Benjamin Edson (Reference # 1032) was born 1686 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA and died 13 May 1758 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. He married Joanna Orcutt (Reference # 1033) 14 July 1715 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. She was born c1694 probably at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA and died 1758 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. Benjamin Edson, Jr. (Reference # 516) was born 3 October 1716 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. He married Ann Thayer (Reference # 517) 1 October 1739 at Abington, Plymouth Co., MA. She was born 1718 and died 4 September 1801, buried at Chicopee, MA. They had only one child:

Generation 6

Jacob Edson (Reference # 258) was born c1740 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA and died 25 April 1806 at Springfield, MA. He married Elizabeth "Bettie" Packard (Reference # 259) 14 May 1759 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. She was born 6 October 1739 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA and died 23 November 1813 at Springfield, MA. For information on her ancestry see the Packard Family. Both are buried, along with Jacob's mother, at the Chicopee Street Cemetery, Chicopee, MA.  They had the following children:

Erene Edson (Reference # 129) was born 5 November 1775 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. She married Noah Frost (Reference # 128) 7 January 1798 at Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA. He was born 8 April 1755 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT and died 9 May 1841 at Ludlow, Hampden Co., MA. For information on his ancestry see the Frost Family. He had married first to Polly Chapin 6 March 1783. She was born 23 March 1763 and died 19 April 1796.
