biography:
Earth Mommies, the Day They Released the Angels (C)1999
I have made quilts for almost twenty years, starting from one of those synchronistic lightening bolt moments when I realized that my background in sewing could easily merge with my art education. I started with a very traditional quilt and a very traditional teacher and swore that I would never make another. But the fates interceded and I went to a Quilters' Connection show in Arlington, Massachusetts, where I saw my first contemporary pieces. From that moment on I was hooked by quilting as the artistic medium of choice. Being in the Boston area in the late 70's and early 80's exposed me to some of the most innovative quilt artists of that time and it is with their continuing encouragement and support that I pursue my work. (Of course I only pay attention to them when they have good things to say.) More about my best critics later...
