We hope you will consider this site as your "clearing house" for information about all the different branches of Riley families. Our goal is to make it easier for you and future generations to learn about our family heritage. If you are looking for Riley ancestors or living relatives, you are invited to post a query here to help you find other researchers and relatives who may be able to help you in your quest. You may luck up and find a relative with a treasured family Bible with the very facts you have been searching for. Or you may find living relatives who can tell you complete details that have eluded you so far.

If you came directly to this site, be sure and visit the Riley Family Club's HOME page, the family NEWSLETTER (with news about your kinfolk) and the family HISTORY section. Click on the HOME button at the bottom of this page.

TIP: include as much information about your ancestor in the query as you can on a single typed page: include the names of any known siblings; all the known children and grandchildren; when and where your ancestor was born, lived and died; and any other information that you know of that might help others identify them. Remember: another researcher may not know your ancestor but might know one of their brothers, sisters or children. Members of the Riley Family Association of the South may post messages free for an indefinite period. Non-members may post messages for brief periods.

I am searching for Riley ancestors on both my side and my wife's families. My grandfather, HERBERT WILLIAM RILEY was b 1 Apr 1888 in Panhandle, Tx. and orphaned as an infant. He said his father was GEORGE RILEY and mother MARY BROWER. He grew up in an orphanage in Paterson, NJ and recalled visiting relatives in Camden and Newark, NJ. He moved to Baker, OR as a young adult where he mar ETHEL LEWELLA BALDOCK in 1913 and had 4 ch. I have been researching my family for years but have not been able to make any connections.

My wife's Rileys are from NC: HENRY RILEY (1807), wife PHEBE (1813). It appears they later moved to Indiana. Their son BENJAMIN FRANKLIN was b 1840 in IL. but most of the children were born in Orange Co., In. Benjamin mar ELIZABETH APPLE (1844 In.) on 28 Nov 1861 in Paoli, In. Any info on these families would be greatly appreciated.
