ROSEMARY PIRES FERREIRA LIMA

BOOK

Biography

ROSEMARY PIRES FERREIRA LIMA was born in Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina (south of Brazil) in April 22 /1950. As the capital is located inside an isle, the population lives in favour of the tourism, trade, gastronomy, and civil service in general. Florianópolis is not an industrialized capital. The majority of the isle's population is made up of European descendents, mainly Azorians (came from Azores-Portugal). As she is descendent from Italians and Portuguese, her best skill is cookery. Then, she graduated in Arts at the University of Santa Catarina. Through her knowledge, she elaborates her dishes, making a good standard meal. For personal and cultural matters, she regularly completed her studies. At high school, she applied in an Accountancy course, and when she was 18, she worked as Civil Servant during 8 years. In her twenties, she got married and had two girls, and got divorced when she was 33 years old. In order to guarantee financial support for her child, she returned to work as Civil Servant again for more ten years. She met her second husband when she was 36 and they have been married until today. She quit the job when she 44 to become exclusively housewife. In that time, she started to dedicate to the "cooking art", the thing that she likes most. Then, she decided to put her knowledge and expectation of the practical food on paper, since the necessity and the abnegation of her daily life in the times she had to work outside the house, obliged her to it. Rosemary's opinion is "knowing what to eat means to live healthy". In 1998, she wrote the book "Cardápios rápidos para o dia-a-dia" (Fast menu for day by day). Her initial idea was to write for some friends, but the book had a good repercussion that reached a significant number of people. All books were sold in 30 days, with an average of 20 books per day, because of that, the two editions sold out. The book really was a success. After, she wrote a second edition with regional seafood recipes due to the demand of the people that wanted this kind of recipes. In this way, in September 2001, the book "Cardápios rápidos -ampliado com frutos do mar" ("Fast menu - increased with seafood recipes") was launched. This book has 30 completed menus, since the starter until the last coffee, the main course, the side dish, the right wine for the side dish, etc, having more than 200 recipes with 168 pages in order to facilitate people's life. Rosimery is currently writing another book with recipes come from her mother in law who is German descendent. This book will bring the Brazilian reality trough the creativity and the sensitivity of the author.
