Biography

Isaura Fernandes da Silveira - ISAURA FERNANDES - is a writer, journalist, poet and an artist. She was born in Pereiras, in the countryside of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, on September 4, 1918. She did not live as a rich girl due to the Crash of the New York Stock Exchange in 1929, as her parents lost everything they had. From 8 to 12 years old, the assembled poems by the most famous poets to read them at school presentations. She dreamed of becoming a writer and a poet. At the age of 12, after graduating at primary school with the highest mark, she started to work as alternate teacher from the 1st to the 4th grades. As she couldn't continue her studies, she abandoned her dreams. She excelled as a fashion stylist with a French teacher, achieving a position at Vogue Fashion House, the most important in the country. As she was under age, she could not travel abroad to look for models. So, she passed her position to someone else who was old enough. She dedicated herself to her private clients: brides and first maids in high society. She got married when she was 20, had two sons and a daughter. She swore to herself that her children would fulfill her graduation dreams. Leaning over her sewing machine, day and night long, unvanquished, she could pay for a good house, schools, and vacations on the beach, as a reward for their accomplishments in their studies. They graduated, got married and had children, and then, after fulfilling her promise to herself, she felt rewarded with the biggest happiness as her children now belong to society, working for Art and Culture in the country. When she became a grandmother at the age of 59, she remembered her childhood, and decides to chase her old child's dream. She goes back to school, and after a year, she enters college. She majored in Portuguese Language and Literature, having Full Mastership by the Pontific Catholic University of São Paulo. She graduated with high distinction. She was approved in the Post Graduation course in Communication and Semiotics, the newest science of the Linguistic Signs. She was a monitor at the Course of Cultural Extension in Child and Infant Literature at PUCS, completing with many extra assignments during college. She did an Extension Course in Psychology under the following themes: "How to be a person of success" and "Knowledge of Yourself". She took part of several congresses: II Brazilian Congress in Semiotics, I Writing and Reading Congress, 5th Nestle Biennial of Brazilian Literature, 4th Brazilian Congress on the Portuguese Language, GEL - Group of Linguistic Studies of the State of São Paulo and How to Publish Your Book. To improve her resume, she enrolled in "OPA - Art Workshop of São Paulo", where she received a certificate in "History of Art", "Meeting Art through History and Music", "How to understand a Work of Art", and "Painting -canvas and china", awarded in exhibitions at her own school. This course inspired the work "The Great Century - Picasso - Arts - Brazilian Literature and Inventions", a research made in Spain, in the library of the Del Prado Museum, in Madrid. Picasso's life and works, the biggest revolutionary of all arts in the XXth Century. As a VIP student in her school, she received a Fraternity Certificate. As she received it on the Women's International Day, March 8, she made a warm speech in honor of all women who excelled in the world. At present, she is studying Computing with her instructor Celso Augusto Vitelli.
