Born on October 7th, in São Paulo City, Brazil, Dr. Karin writes poetry
since she was 7.
In 1983, at age 16 only, she launches the book "PLANO E CONVEXO" - Plane and
Convex -, published by Editora ECE, under the genre Chronicle - ISBN: 85-
85009- 09- 8.
Preface by Mr. Paulo Zingg - President of the Press Association of São
Paulo. Praised by the Minister of Justice, Dr. Euclides Pereira de Mendonça;
the Minister of Education, Dr. Esther de Figueiredo Ferraz; São Paulo's
Chamber of Councilmen; and Rio Grande do Sul's Secretary of Agriculture, Dr.
João Salvador de Souza Jardim.
"AMOR E HEPATITE VIRAL" - Love and Viral Hepatitis - was published by
Editora Legnar in 2001, at the Centro Cultural and Teatro do Hospital Santa
Catarina, genre Poetry - ISBN: 85- 86556- 37- 8; this book was exposed at
the 2000 Biennial Book Fair.
The poem "AMOR E HEPATITE VIRAL" - Love and Viral Hepatitis - was an
award-winner and published in the Vol. IV of Brazilian Anthology 'Panel of
New Talents', of the Brazilian Chamber of Young Talents of Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, in 2000.
It has participations in several anthologies, including the ones published
by SOBRAMES - Brazilian Society of Writers Physicians from São Paulo,
Brazil. She is a member of REBRA - Brazilian Women Writers Network and of
the National Poetic Movement.
She is the doctor responsible for the Hematology Center at Hospital Santa
Catarina in São Paulo. A Master from Faculdade de Medicina of USP -
Hematology; Member of the Brazilian Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy;
Member of the American Association of Blood Banks; ex-Assistant Physician at
SUS - Hemophilia and Hematology Service of Hospital Brigadeiro.
Member and ex-President of SOBRAMES - Brazilian Society of Writers
Physicians from São Paulo, Brazil; the "First Female President" of this
society.
Married, mother of two children, she spends her time with family, work and
readings. Dr. Karin Schmidt Rodrigues Massaro, affectionately known by the
name KARIN KARINHO (Karinho is a pun with the word affection in Portuguese).
Author of many poems, she shows up again in 2007 with her third book, 'HOT
BLOOD", whose preface is written by the Director, Writer and Actor PAULO
BETTI.
