CYANA LEAHY holds a PhD in Literature Education (University of London) and an MA in Education (Universidade Federal Fluminense). With a degree in Lettres from UFF, and in Music from UFRJ, Rio de Janeiro, she works as an associate professor of literature education at UFF, teaching and supervising theses and dissertations. An awarded writer and researcher, she has published four books of poems and three of academic essays. Still to publish are books of short stories, essays and academic texts. As a translator, she has done a number of translations into Portuguese and into English for publishing houses in Brazil (among others, of books by Edna O'Brien, Shere Hite, Rosamund Pilcher and Annie Proulx).
Born in the 1950s, Cyana Leahy lives in Niterói. The proud mother of Filipe and Alana Leahy-Dios, she has a taste for travelling, books, music and good friends. Her biggest indecision lies between growing old by the sea or on the mountain. .
Plus various articles on literature, education and gender in indexed journals in Brazil and abroad. She has contributed regularly as critical reviewer for Prosa e Verso (O Globo), Caderno Idéias (Jornal do Brasil) and The European Legacy (MIT Press).
