NEIDE MAGANHAS

BOOK

Biography

Self-taught her hobby has been writing, since a very young age.
Writing is like a therapy, makes me understand the world, its fears, anxieties, expectations, courage and happiness... We are all the same, she says.
She writes about what she likes and when she thinks it is necessary - like when she published her first book, an author's edition, Sob o olhar da Pedra Grande (Under the Big Stone's Eye), where, in a chronicle form, she describes some facts that highlighted her life. She talks about her childhood, youth and part of her adult life, her hopes and, of course, about her thoughts about life.
Her second book, Mundo Paralelo (Parallel World), published by Madras in 2001, was written after her elder son William died tragically at the age of five. She tells about her son's short span of life that, even after his death, shared with her a rare experience of endless love and friendship.
Parallel World was written to help so many other parents who lose their children and cannot get over it. My experience, although being so cruel, has given me a faith in God I did not have before and a consolation to acknowledge that we have not come to this world as tourists. There are many mysterious ways. We must learn to pay more attention in what we regard as unthinkable, thinks the author. After this lamentable outcome, Neide Maganhas has developed an enormous power to love everyone, as well as herself.
We learn this at an early age, but we cannot make it work. Life, by itself, steals some virtues from us, but I try, in all ways possible, to do my best around here, wishing always the best to everyone in this planet and I believe that, if everyone wishes the same, many problems will be solved. The lack of good will is disastrous, concludes the author.
Her new book called, curiously, Buena-dicha, tells us about the saga of a Spanish family, seasoned with the author's peculiar humor and filled with magic and mysticism, but always with a happy end for everyone, her basic condition to develop a story. Fiction and reality: Buena-dicha is the story of my father's family, which starts in Spain and ends in Brazil, intense and full of passions. The fiction rests in my imagination, trying to find good excuses for life. I like to think that the divine, the magical, the unreal plays a part in our destinies, smiles the author.
Buena-dicha hasn't been published yet: it is still waiting for an appraisal by some Brazilian publishers.
I feel that this book will bring me a great happiness. It is beautiful and moving. People in general are interested in a family story, mainly if there is a great ending. We all have great stories to tell. In Brazil, most people's forefathers came from some other part of the world, so, our life story is filled with interesting facts, rich in beauty, experiences which are worth while sharing, says the author.
