Amir In action

Sapuan (Sweep)

Here is a series of photo's showing Amir successfully executing a sweep. The front sweeping technique used here is not damaging since it's a Silat Olahraga(Sports Silat) competition. Note that even as Amir attacks, he is constantly observing and evaluating the opponents reaction. That is why in photo number 5, Amir is able to simulataneously deflect the opponents kick and sweep the opponents leg at the same time. Amir has deceived(tipu helah) his opponent into thinking that he is targetting the front leg when in reality it is the rear leg that is his true objective.

Amir faces his opponent...	...and begins to launch his attack.
The opponent seeing a sweep, think that it's targetted towards his front leg. He lifts that leg and begins his counterattack...	..which is a kick, something that Amir anticipates. Notice Amirs's right hand which is positioned...
...deflect the kick and in this picture he achieves his real target which is the rear leg.	It's over. The gong sounded just after this and Amir was declared a winner having scored more points than his opponent.
