In Silat, the usage of verses of the Quran for the purpose of strengthening one's will and for protection is common. Here is one of the most basic and powerful verses that can be recited daily. Please note that my Arabic is not perfect so you should check your recitation with someone who is good in their recitation.
Translation of Ayat-ul-Kursi (by A Yusuf Ali):-
God! There is no God but He, - the Living, The Self Subsisting, Eternal.
No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things on the heavens and the earth. Who is there that can intercede in His Presence except as he permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to his creatures as)before or after or behind them. Nor shall they encompass aught of his knowledge except as He willeth.
