Skid plate mods, exhaust re-running, and tranny heat shield... all in a day's work.

Josh Baker had no idea what he was getting into when he put the Great White Whale up on the rack to "do a little exhaust work".  By the time the whistle blew at the end of the day, Josh had worked on nothing else for 8 hours!   The results, though, were excellent and I can be hard to please sometimes...

The first thing was to re-run the exhaust down the transmission tunnel and fabricate a heat shield to protect the tranny from the cat.  Josh did a beautiful job and the tunnel stays amazingly cool.  It's even painted!

The next task was to take an existing skid plate and fabricate some hefty, but bolt-on rear support for it.  I also needed a second skid plate added to protect the GM VSS and wiring from the V8 conversion.  Josh got out the tape measure and chalk and went to work.  The angles took some time to get right and the tube stock had to be cut, bent, welded, and ground to Josh's satisfaction.  I wish we had a close-up of the bends on the tubing... very nice work.

The end result was cleaned, primed, and painted.  It looks great, is strong enough to hold the weight of the truck if necessary, and bolts on & off.   Nice piece of artwork that, unfortunately, most people will never see.

Now that the Whale is out of the shop, the "Artist formerly known as Josh" can catch up on a few other projects.  Who says you can't make a bull bar for an ATV...
