Four "quick-latch" fasteners hold the frame tight to the cargo hooks in the floor of the truck. Flipping these four latches releases the frame and allows it to be easily removed if necessary.
Drawers are mounted to 30", 150lb. ball bearing slides which should be plenty strong enough for recovery gear and tools.
All wood surfaces were sealed with a urethane finish and then carpeted to match truck interior. Tie down loops were added for cargo riding on top of the cabinet.
The front and rear tops of the cabinet hinge up to allow access should the tailgate become inaccessible off-road. The tops covering the wheel well humps also unlatch to allow storage in the area surrounding the wheel arches. All latches are aircraft grade.
The drawers slides allow for quick removal of the drawers themselves if required. Two latches and the drawer lifts out of the slides.
The finished cabinet allows all of my recovery gear and tools to stay stowed out of site, but still allows for lots of cargo room and easy removal if necessary.
