Repairs and Maintenance

I've put this page together quickly to post a few pictures of some recent maintenance that I performed. A couple of the items were done based upon the recommendation of a fellow Audifan (Damien Gaboury). As time permits, I'll further update this page with more information.

Throttle Body - Rubber Seal - Part # 078 129 949

Damien, by measuring the voltage output of his O2 sensors, found that his car was running lean. After snooping around a bit, he found that the rubber seal between the black intake plenum and the throttle body was no longer doing as good as job as it should. He decided to replace it. He found that doing so, along with his adjusting the CO mixture, got his car running back to the way it should, returning favorable gas mileage as well. The seal was inexpensive... I paid $6.20 (U.S.) for it. The Part # is 078 129 949.

Given that my car has over 180k miles on it, I figured that I'd replace the seal as a preventative measure, especially since I was going to be already under the hood changing the spark plugs and fuel filter. Here are few pictures of the process of replacing the seal.

Fuel Pressure Regulator - Part # 078 133 534 C

Damien also found that his fuel pressure regulator needed to be replaced, and recommended that it be done on high-mileage cars. With over 180k miles, I figured that my car was probably overdue!!

The removal and installation was fairly easy. It is rather straightforward and simple... once you take a look at it. When I get a chance, I'll post some more detailed instructions. The Part # is 078 133 534 C.

Here is a picture of where the fuel pressure regulator is located.

Fuel Filter

Just like the regulator, the removal and installation was fairly easy. It is rather straightforward and simple... once you take a look at it. When I get a chance, I'll post some more detailed instructions.

Here is a picture of where the fuel filter is located. I'd recommend writing on the filter, with a permanent marker, the mileage and date at the time of installation.
