1999 CruiserKhana - 13/14
March
The 1999 CruiserKhana was held by the Toyota
Landcruiser Club at its property in Yark (Victoria). The property is
less than 2 hours drive from the centre of Melbourne and has a
variety of tracks and training facilities.
Key features of the CruiserKhana were the boghole,
watercrossing, tyre-course, staircase and cross-country track. (Each
photo links to an enlarged image.)

The bog hole was a speed event that also involved
driving skill - flags had to be avoided. Contestants had to sound a
horn that was hanging from a pole and then drived through the bog
hole and do a 3 point turn before returning. A Land Rover 110 ensured
that the flags were "absent" for most of the event!
The tyre track involved driving over tyres that
had been bolted together and also avoiding flags. (These lasted a
little longer..... it was afterall, not a speed event!) The slowest
time without penalty won the event.
Cross country involved driving over obstacles that
tested suspension travel and wheel placement. Again, not a timed
event.
