~Daybreak~

Hushed in early light of morning,
just before the break of day,
watch the shadows swiftly turning.
Rising breezes catch the fey
reflections~ sending ripples dancing,
breaking images of light
long across the lake, entrancing
shore-birds into song and flight.

Rabbits' Dance

See them dance in frozen moonlight
of a world transformed by snow.
Pure elation in the night, bright
music only they can know.

Leaping through a world of wonder~
heeding drumbeats of their own.
Ancient, timeless spell they're under,
pure enjoyment~ point unknown.

~Mountain~

I can hear the mountain singing,
weaving tales of days long past.
All of life, since times' beginning
leaves an imprint which will last.

From the depths of earths' endeavor
granite plates were broken free.
Forced expulsion and dissever,
by compressed, molten energy.

Born upon the worlds' awakening~
thrusting, jagged, from the core,
stripped and worn, the eons shaping,
change and challenge, evermore.

All the struggle and the striving,
greatest battles won and lost,
and the mountain, still surviving,
keeps the gate~ records the cost.

~Tribes~

Live on true heart,
through twisted relics
of a desolate land.
Remember all the life
that passed away.

Remember how
they drove you down,
you could not make a stand.
All that you loved,
destroyed that fatal day.

So now, live on,
amid the memories
of your life-way lost.
Subsist on pittance
from the white-man god.

Watch your children
freeze and starve,
then tally up the cost.
Salvation lies on paths
white men have trod.

~Green Mts. in Vermont~

They stand, eternal guardians
of all who dwell within.
Dark sentinels~ uplifted
to the sky.
In awesome, timeless splendor,
inviting seekers home~
with comfort in
creations' majesty.

~I Fear The Sunrise~

I fear the sunrise~ on this night,
the dreams of mortal man have died.
There is no beauty, for the light
of Heaven's blessing is denied.

All human-kind, of doom foretold,
their folly and their careless keep,
destroy themselves as prophets old,
foreseeing visions, made men weep.

I fear the sunrise, for the dawn
brings to us all the end of life.
This earth will perish- made the pawn
of human evil, greed and strife.

~Cold Weather~

How still and cold, a winters' morn~
nothing stirs, outside or in.
The vapid sun pretends at dawn~
attempting to make day begin.

A layered veil of frigid mist
hovers shroud-like o'er the lake,
hushed to silence song-birds tryst,
amid the boughs, still half awake.

A blanketing of silver ice
entraps the lake-life down below.
While home and hearth must well suffice
to keep this mortal safe from snow.
