First test, get the mill set up and cut some small pine logs.
Cutting up some Leighton Green hybrid cypress logs salvaged from a firewood pile near Oakura.
Sawing up some Macrocarpa Cypress near Inglewood.
Kelv sharpens his saw before have a hack at a big windfallen log.
Once cut to manageable lengths we drag them down the hill to a reasonably flat spot when
we can set the mill up around the log.
Sawing some nice boards out of good log :-)
By sawing 2/3 of the way through the log then rolling it over we were able to cut this
75mm thick table slab.
Getting the green (i.e. HEAVY) slab on the trailer was another mission in itself.
Once thick slabs have dried they need to be planed and sometimes edge
jointed, or left with a 'live' edge. I have mounted a big Makita router under the mill to
plane the slabs down.
The business end of the router - 50mm bit.

A fish tank stand and breakfast bar are built from Macrocarpa cypress, the little bedside
cabinet is Bluegum.
A monitor stand I knocked together for a workmate. A desk, seat and PC for that my boys
have hijacked for their own use!!
