Welcome to our garden. Our home, Water Lily Cottage, is located on a half acre of land in Montecito, California (just south of Santa Barbara) about one block from the Pacific Ocean. The climate is very mild (USDA Hardiness Zone 10), and dry (we receive an average of 17.91 inches of rainfall per year). The garden includes a large
collection of plants featuring many California native plants and other non-native plants that are suited to dry climates (xeriscaping). Salvias are among our favorite plants. Many of the plants at Water Lily Cottage are highly fragrant, and there are many container plants. There are 20 fruit trees. In 1997 we completed a water garden. It is the home to lotus, water lilies and other aquatic plants and creatures. Our garden is certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat.
